A Lifesaving Story

When Mollie arrived at WHS, we weren't sure she would make it. She had Parvovirus, which can be a death sentence for puppies.

Dear Friend,

When her paws hit the pavement last week, she could hardly contain herself. With her backside tucked under in the wild puppy posture, she sprinted back and forth on the grass, zigzagging and chasing her tail with pure unfettered glee. It was clear from the glimmer in her soft brown eyes; Mollie was thrilled to be alive.

But her young life hasn't always been so pleasant. When she arrived at the Wisconsin Humane Society, we weren't sure Mollie was going to survive - she had parvovirus signs including severe, blood-filled diarrhea. Parvo can be a death sentence for puppies like Mollie.

She was dehydrated and lethargic. She was just a baby - only four months old - and her life was quickly leaving her.

Not only did she receive treatment for her virus at WHS, but also for a cold she developed because of her weakened immune system. With diligent, lifesaving medical treatment and a whole lot of loving care, Mollie pulled through. Your support helped to make it possible.

The Wisconsin Humane Society is funded through the generosity of caring people like you. We receive no government funding, no tax dollars and no government grants. Our lifesaving programs are made possible through the gifts of people in our community and beyond who believe in the work we do to save the lives of wild and companion animals.

We hope you will make a gift today so that other animals like Mollie can live to enjoy warm summer afternoons for years to come. We will use your gift to provide animals with lifesaving medical care, spay and neuter, nutritious food, a comfortable bed and more. Beyond that, your gift enables us to work to build a kinder, more humane community from which we all benefit.

On behalf of Mollie, our St. Bernard/Collie mix who has been adopted into a loving, long-term home and will now grow to be a big, beautiful dog, thank you for considering a gift to the Wisconsin Humane Society. With the financial support of folks like you, we can continue to save the lives of animals.

With gratitude,

Victoria Wellens
Executive Director
