When a person commits themselves to the life and wellness of their animal companion, the world is a better place. It has been said that one should not give an animal as a gift, but recent research has shown otherwise. The Wisconsin Humane Society is one of the animal welfare agencies nation-wide to test conventional wisdom and to offer the carefully designed Gift of Companionship program. We believe that with a thoughtful approach and adequate support, the bonds of animal companionship can last a lifetime!

Many generous employers in the Milwaukee area encourage charitable contributions by matching your gift dollar for dollar. Companies such as Harley Davidson, Johnson Controls and many others participate in matching gifts programs and make a positive impact in our community. WHS invites low-income cat guardians to have their cat spayed or neutered in celebration of Spay Day USA on Tuesday, February 23, 2010. Spay Day USA is a national day of action to reduce animal overpopulation and thus, prevent animal suffering.
Guardians will be charged veterinary fees on a sliding scale ranging from $10 and up, based on family income, size and other factors. Last year on Spay Day alone, WHS spayed 140 animals! WHS veterinarians, volunteer veterinarians and WHS vet technicians all contribute to this impressive effort. |
