Promoting Animal Care and Kindness (P.A.C.K.)

P.A.C.K. (Promoting Animal Care and Kindness) is an exciting new partnership designed for children and their adult mentors involved in Children of Promise, a Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee program for children with an incarcerated parent. Monthly group activities held at the Wisconsin Humane Society introduce kids to a variety of animals including dogs, cats, small mammals and birds. Through positive, hands-on learning experiences, P.A.C.K. aims to help children develop empathy, compassion and respect for living things and form stronger bonds with animals, their peers and mentors.

Studies show a strong link between animal abuse and human violence. Many individuals who commit violent crimes as adults also abused animals when they were young.

As a P.A.C.K. member, children not only learn about animals and how to treat them with respect, they learn life skills they need to grow into kind, compassionate adults.

Children paired with an adult mentor are referred by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee. There is no fee for the program. For more information, please call 414-431-6153.
