Husky/Shepherd Mix Injured in Dog Attack
Wisconsin Humane Society reminds guardians to
neuter companion animals

MILWAUKEE – Veterinary staff at the Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) are currently treating Bear, a 15-year-old Siberian Husky/Shepherd mix, for injuries including head wounds, lacerations and swelling. Bear was surrendered to WHS after he was attacked by a visiting dog; his guardians were unable to care for him.

Neither Bear, nor the other dog, was neutered. Behavioral problems, including aggression toward other male dogs, are verified characteristics in unneutered male canines. In addition, more than 70 percent of all dog bite incidents involve unneutered male dogs.

Benefits of spaying or neutering your companion animal include decreased aggression, the prevention of unwanted litters, the prevention of tumors and certain diseases, and a decreased inclination to roam.

Bear’s stitches are healing well and he will be available for adoption in about seven to ten days. Bear is a sweet dog with a goofy disposition, despite his painful injuries.
