AWARENESS MONTH

Department Join Together to Declare First Rabies
Observance to Increase Awareness of Disease
WHAT:
The Wisconsin Humane Society in partnership with
the City of Milwaukee Health Department will hold
a news conference and educational demonstration
to spread the word about how to protect your family
and your companion animals from rabies.

FACTS:
- The percentage of bats testing positive for rabies
has been relatively steady since at least 1992.
-Three rabies-positive bats have been found since
mid-May of this year.
-The vast majority of bats are healthy, beneficial
creatures that consume large numbers of insects,
such as mosquitoes
