There's
Hope for Lost Furry Friends
MILWAUKEE –
It's every guardian's worst nightmare – you lose
your darling Lucy while walking in the park, or
Timmy doesn't make it home from the neighbor's backyard
one day. Today is a big day for guardians in our
area – the Wisconsin Humane Society has launched
L.O.S.T. (Locate Our Stray Today),
a program that will help bring neighbors together
for a common purpose, to help locate lost companion
animals in their community.
How does L.O.S.T. work?
A guardian who cannot locate their companion animal
would fill out a lost animal alert on the Wisconsin
Humane Society's web site, located at www.wihumane.org.
WHS staff then sends a personal e-mail containing
information about the missing animal to thousands
of animal lovers as well as features the missing
animal on WHS' web site.
The individual who
thinks they found the lost animal would contact
WHS, then WHS would orchestrate a reunion between
the guardian and individual who found the animal.
WHS staff will provide the guardian with information
to help prevent loss again.
