Humane Societies Offer to Find Homes for 60 Dogs
Scheduled to Die at the Medical College of Wisconsin

Several organizations have made a plea to the Medical College of Wisconsin to hand over the 60 dogs scheduled to die in late February in a physiology lab. At a press conference on Tuesday, leaders from local humane organizations will discuss the offer and the upcoming lab.

The dogs used at the Medical College of Wisconsin are bought from a USDA- certified “random source” dealer in Minnesota, which means that the dogs may originate from shelters, pounds, breeders or even classified ads. Their breeds, temperaments, sizes and ages may vary greatly, and is largely unknown. Representatives from the Medical College have said that the dogs were meant to be euthanized anyway, but the humane societies are offering to find homes for the dogs.

WHAT: Press Conference/Meeting

WHEN: Tuesday, February 20, 2006 12:00 Noon – 1:00pm

WHERE: Wisconsin Humane Society, 4500 W. Wisconsin Ave.,
Milwaukee, WI 53208
