Volunteer
Our volunteers are our most important asset and they do a remarkable job for the animals, the shelter and our programs. Everyday,
a volunteer helps improve the life of an animal
here at the Wisconsin Humane Society. Our volunteers
help over 20,000 animals a year through fostering, dog walking, or working in our Wildlife
Rehabilitation Center. Our beautiful shelter allows
us to provide the best creature comforts for our
animals and the volunteers who interact with them.
Positions are currently available in Milwaukee for these positions:
- In-home foster volunteers
- Wildlife department volunteers
- Ozaukee Campus volunteer positions
- Adoption Teammate/Greeter - Milwaukee
As an Adoption Teammate/Greeter volunteer, you will assist our adoption counseling department by working with adopters to finalize the adoption process. Teammates/Greeters will work with clients to explain the adoption packet, process signed contracts and agreements, and release animals to their new families. Teammates may also assist in greeting visitors to the facility and basic administrative duties of the Adoption Counseling department. Shifts for this position are three hours in length and the greatest need is on evenings and weekends. The minimum age requirement is 18 years and older. Fill out an online application.
Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Youth ages 13-17 must be accompanied by a parent for all volunteer sessions. Volunteers 13 years old may volunteer by themselves in our
Orphaned Bird Care program that takes place during
the spring and summer months. Please read each volunteer
